Ben is 13 years old and first started to play saxophone during lockdown 2020. As a clarinettist, he was initially self-taught before transitioning to online lessons. He sat his Grade 1 Jazz saxophone just 6 months later, scoring an impressive 99/100.
Since then, Ben has demonstrated real flair, dedication and passion for the instrument. He recently achieved 96/100 in his Grade 6 Jazz saxophone, scoring full marks for his scales and pieces. The examiner commented that it was a 'truly outstanding exam' and commended his tonal variety, expressive playing and agility. He has consistently scored over 90% in all 5 exams he has entered. Ben is a member of the prestigious Bristol Pre-Conservatoire as well as Jazz Ambassadors where he has been given the opportunity to really hone his improvisation skills.
