The Trinity College London 2024 China Conference on 14 October welcomed more than 100 guests from across the Chinese and British governments, education and industrial associations and councils, as well as Trinity registered centres taking part.
Ms Gerry McCafferty, Minister and Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Beijing and Mr Tom Simpson, Managing Director of the China Britain Business Council both attended the conference as keynote speakers. The conference was also an opportunity for Trinity to share our strategy and vision for our work and growth in China. We were represented by Chair Mark Damazer CBE, and Erez Tocker, CEO and Ruoshui Feng, General Manager for China. Delegates were also treated to some excellent live music and drama performances by students from selected Trinity registered centres in Beijing.
The conference was also witness to the signing of a new collaboration with Huaxia Culture Promotion Association (HCPA) to promote Trinity’s Communication Skills qualification, designed to develop the communication and speaking skills needed to succeed in education, career and life in the 21st century.
On 15 October, Ms Yuling Zhou, Vice President of Beijing Education Exam Authority (BEEA), and Erez Tocker CEO of Trinity College London signed an agreement to recommence the running of Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE) exams for teachers and students in the Beijing area.
Over the past twenty-four years, more than 300,000 candidates have been able to take their Trinity GESE exams with BEEA, and we are delighted to be able to expand our collaboration and serve even more learners and candidates over the years to come.
GESE qualifications are designed for people of all ages who want to develop communicative English language speaking and listening skills for use in real life — whatever the purpose, whether for study, leisure or employment. GESE will support English teaching and learning development in Beijing and provide candidates with a recognised international qualification and associated recognition. The two organisations also committed to deepen dialogue around expanding their collaboration into the area of performing arts in the future.
