What happens after you’ve booked your SELT?

Once you’ve booked a SELT test with Trinity, you will receive an email from us with details about your exam.

This will include: 

  • Type of test you’ve booked
  • Time and date of your test
  • The test centre your test will be at

When this email comes through, be sure to check that the details of your exam are correct. If you can’t find the email, please check your junk and spam folders.

On the day of your SELT exam

If you’re taking your SELT exam at a Trinity test centre, then it’s important to make sure you follow these instructions so everything goes smoothly on the day of your test: 

  • Don't forget to download and complete an exam discussion Topic Form to take to the exam with you! Here is an example of a completed Topic Form.
  • Arrive at the test centre* at the time given on your email - you will be greeted by your personal steward.

*Please note that only the candidate can enter the exam centre. Family members or other people are not allowed to enter the exam centre or wait in the reception area.

Frequently Asked Questions about B1 SELT preparation

When you get to your SELT test centre, we will need to do some security checks before you are able to take your exam. You MUST bring the following with you for these checks: 

  • Your ID
  • Your completed Topic Form

Please note, if you don't bring these items with you then you won't be able to take your SELTs test.

There are a number of items you won’t be allowed to take into the exam room with you, such as bags, mobile phones, hats (unless worn for religious purposes) and other personal items in the exam - so it’s best to leave these at home if you can. A locker will be provided to store anything that you can’t leave at home. 

You won't be able to take any personal items into the exam room with you. This includes mobile phones, bags and headwear (unless worn for religious reasons). There will be lockers available at the test centre to store your belongings if you are not able to leave them at home. 

Provisional GESE results are sent by email by 9am the day after your exam and you will be sent a link to access your digital certificate by email within 4-7 days of your exam date.

 When you book your SELT exam with Trinity you have the option to buy Trinity Exam Protect. This will enable you to retake your test at a date and time that suits you.

If you booked your SELT test through another provider, then you may have to pay to book another test. You will need a pass on your SELT exam to be eligible to apply for either a work visa, study visa or family visa

We know that sometimes things get in the way, and the original exam date booked may later not be suitable for you. When you book your SELT exam with Trinity, you have the option to buy Trinity Exam Protect
