Transformative TeachersWebinar 13 Dec 2024

Webinar date: December 2024
Presenter: Lucas Manente

In this webinar, we started with exploring basic concepts of assessment, emphasizing the difference between formative and summative assessments and how we can use them appropriately. We then critically examined the qualities that define a “good” test, focusing on its validity, reliability, practicality, and impact on teaching i.e.: washback.

Finally, we discussed the importance of being assessment-literate to better discuss assessment practices with stakeholders, adapt assessments to be more contextually appropriate and thus being better able to make informed decisions and teach our lessons with a more critical eye.

This webinar explored:

  • How to differentiate between formative and summative assessments and when to use them.
  • What makes a test “good” by examining its validity, reliability, practicality, and teaching impact.
