Integrating Independent Learning into Exam Preparation Classes

Transformative TeachersWebinar 20 Sep 2024

Webinar date: September 2024
Presenter: Jo Tomlinson

Students preparing for internationally recognised exams, including Trinity's Integrated Skills in English (ISE), are often dependent on class time and teacher input for score improvement. During this webinar, presenter Jo Tomlinson discussed the limitations of this reliance and explored how independent learning can boost learning. The session looked at concerns students and teachers may have over independent learning and ways in which these concerns could be addressed. Futher to this, we also highlighted ways in which teachers can implement the first steps of independent learning, by putting some of the responsibilities of improvement into the students’ hands while carefully monitoring their progress.

This webinar covered:

  • Worries about independent learning and how these can be overcome
  • How independent learning can aid students preparing for exams
  • Ways in which independent learning can be incorporated in the classroom
