This is the Cookie Policy of Trinity College London (a registered charity with registration numbers 1014792 (England and Wales) and SC 049143 (Scotland) and company registration number 02683033 with its registered office at Blue Fin Building, 110 Southwark Street, London SE1 0TA) and its subsidiaries (as applicable) (‘Trinity’, ‘us’, ‘we’, ‘our’).
A cookie is a small piece of information sent by a web server to a web browser, which enables the server to collect information from the browser. You can find out more about the use of cookies below and on www.allaboutcookies.org. We use "personalisation" cookies to identify you when you visit the websites listed below (‘Websites’) (where you have given your consent) and to keep track of your browsing patterns and build up a demographic profile. We use "analytics" cookies to understand who has seen which of the pages on the Websites and to determine the most popular areas of the Websites so that we can improve and develop the Websites.
Our use of cookies also allows registered users to be presented with a personalised version of the Websites and have access to information about their account.
We may also use “social media” cookies to personalise your interaction with third party social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook where our Website uses such features. Such cookies recognise users of these social media sites when you view social media content on our Website. They also allow you to quickly share content across media, through the use of simple ‘sharing’ buttons. We note that third parties, including Facebook, may use cookies and other storage technologies to collect or receive information via our Websites and elsewhere on the internet and use that information to provide measurement services and target ads. You can opt out of the collection and use of information for ad targeting and if you wish to do so you may find websites such as www.aboutads.info/choices and www.youronlinechoices.eu helpful.
Trinity use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google"), to help us monitor how Websites are used. As a result, where you choose to 'accept all' cookies or to accept 'analytics cookies' within Trinity's cookie settings, your IP address may be transmitted to Google and stored on servers in the United States. Where you are a user of a Google account and you have chosen to switch on the ad personalisation settings within your Google account, if you then choose to 'accept all' cookies or to accept 'analytics cookies' within Trinity's cookie settings, your IP address will be shared with Google Analytics. This allows us to understand additional details about how our Websites are used, including where the same individual visits our Websites via multiple devices. The information Google collects from you is combined with data from thousands of other users to create an overall picture of website use, and is never identified individually or personally and is not linked to any other information we store about you. You can choose to switch off 'analytics cookies' within Trinity's cookie settings and turn off the ad personalisation settings within your Google account at any time. Personal information may be stored in some of the cookies that are issued by the Websites but where these cookies are non-essential to the services we provide, you may opt out of accepting them or can remove them at any time, if you wish, via your browser settings whilst still accepting other essential cookies. Please refer to your browser instructions or help screen to learn more about how to do this. Should you decide to disable any cookies we place on your computer the functionality of our Websites may be affected and you may not be able to use certain services or facilities on the Websites. Switching off cookies will restrict your use of the Websites.
The duration of time that a cookie remains on your PC or device depends on if it is a ‘persistent’ cookie or a ‘session’ cookie. Session cookies last up until you stop browsing; persistent cookies last until they expire or are deleted. Most of the cookies we use are session cookies and will expire when your browsing session is finished. Personal data from persistent cookies will be held for a maximum of 2 years from the date collected. You can remove persistent cookies at any time through your browser settings.
