Trinity’s new Digital Grades and Diploma exams are available for all Classical and Jazz syllabuses. They enable candidates to record their pieces and technical work at a place and time of their choice and then submit the video recording via our online platform to be assessed by our expert examiners. The exams have the same academic rigour as our face-to-face exams, and candidates gain full recognition for their achievements, with the same certificate awarded as for the face-to-face exams.

PLEASE NOTE: candidates should only enter for these digital exams through their local Representative/Centre when they are ready to record their exam.

Welcome to the South African page of the Trinity College London website

South Africa has been hosting Trinity assessments in music, drama and speech for more than a hundred years. These assessments, conducted by expert, international examiners, range from Initial to Diploma level.

There are 7 public centres in South Africa and one in neighbouring Botswana and in Namibia. There are registered music exam centres in Knysna and George.

Trinity qualifications are highly regarded by most tertiary institutions in South Africa, although the level of recognition does vary from one institution to another. The Education Department recognises grades 6 and 7 as an additional subject for Matric, although from 2014 the marks will no longer be included in the total, but it will still appear on the Matric certificate.

Trinity music examinations include the Rock & Pop syllabus for contemporary musicians. Drama examinations include Acting, Communication Skills, Musical Theatre, Performance Arts and Speech and Drama.

For more information, please contact your local Trinity Representative or the National Manager - you'll find their contact details here.
