Trinity's ISE qualifications provide individuals and institutions with reliable evidence of the use of integrated English language skills at different levels from beginner to advanced.
ISE Digital assesses all four language skills: Speaking, listening, reading, and writing. ISE assesses the ability to interact in English in an authentic and meaningful way, through integrated reading and writing exam tasks and integrated speaking and listening tasks.
The 4-skills exam takes 105 minutes, including a levelling test and time to read instructions.
No, all four modules must be taken at the same time. You may resit one module within 90 days to improve your score.
It is possible to re-take one skill within 90 days to improve a score.
Candidates can choose between American English and British English spelling conventions. Regardless of which convention they choose, they must use it consistently.
Candidates are assessed on how intelligible they are. They do not need to copy any particular accent of first-language English speakers.
The score for each module is reported on a scale from zero to 150.
The ISE digital overall score is an average of the candidates’ four module scores and is reported on a scale from zero to 150.
These scores will be added to the certificate as well as the corresponding CEFR level from A1–C2.
A 'Not yet A1' score is also possible.
Please visit our certificate information page for details of what will be on the certificate.
The diagnostic profile of your performance in each skill (reading, listening, speaking and writing) shows the areas where you performed well and the areas you might wish to practise and develop further.
